New poem/new journal: “Omen. Seduction. Reunion. – the Poet’s Commentary for Mizoguchi’s Ugetsu monogatari”

My ekphrastic poem “Omen. Seduction. Reunion. – the Poet’s Commentary for Mizoguchi’s Ugetsu monogatari” has been published in the first issue of Midwest Coast Review. Thanks to editor Dan Hass for giving the piece a home.

The poem grew from some cinematic discussions with Bill Yarrow. (Thanks, Bill.) Kenji Mizoguchi was a master of cinema, and Ugetsu, one of his best films.

Jean-Luc Godard on Mizoguchi: “Quite simply one of the greatest of filmmakers.”
